Consistency is so important and that takes time. We live in a society where we expect quick results, but the fact is we are not often able to keep up with those things that got us to lose the weight quickly. If you are ready to lose the weight for good, it’s going to take time.
A healthy weight loss averages 1 to 2 pounds per week. This gives your body time to adjust physically to a new weight and also allows you to keep practicing the healthy activities it mentally takes time to incorporate as a habit.
How else can you tap into the power of positivity?
Find the “Good” in the Situation
When things do not go as planned, take time to reevaluate and ask yourself what you can learn from it to use in future situations. Maybe you learn that when you are too restrictive in your eating, you easily fall off the plan. From this maybe you learn more of a balance for yourself over time where you have some of your “off limits” foods once in a while. Also, what did go well for you? What success can you bring forward?
Consider keeping a tracker through an app, journal or chart on the wall to show the “good” that is happening. So often we focus on what is “wrong” or not working still in our lives, that we forget to celebrate the good along the way.
Think in terms of non-scale victories too
This goes along with the last idea because sometimes we can see success in our lives that isn’t always reflected on the scale. Maybe you feel more energy from eating healthier, you are sleeping better or you feel a difference in your clothes after several weeks of incorporating a new workout routine. Celebrate the non-scale victories too!

Who inspires you and helps you to keep going despite challenges? Find a community of like-minded individuals who share your vision of a healthy lifestyle. This a great place to find support in times where we are struggling.
Create daily affirmations
Remind yourself of why you want to make a change. Think of a positive word or phrase that will set your intention for the day and help you to move through your day with a positive attitude.
