My number one strategy for eating healthier is substitution. That means swapping in something healthy for something unhealthy. It is so much easier to substitute a food than to try to give up an unhealthy food cold turkey. For example, if you are trying hard to curb your chocolate consumption, you can tell yourself that every time you want to eat chocolate, you will instead eat a banana. That gives you something to do when you feel the craving coming on and it gives you something sweet to satisfy your craving. That is a lot easier than simply telling yourself to be strong and resist.
