August is a time for summer fun, vacations and some of the warmest temperatures of the year. For those who have kids, it’s time for getting ready to go back to school, too.
I taught fitness classes for many years, and when the kids went back to school, the moms often would start back up their workout classes. I would see the moms who are completely ready to get back to a “normal” schedule and have the kids back in school. The fall schedule to them means more order in the household from week to week, and it’s easier to find time to exercise and eat healthier now that the kids are in school.
On the other side, you have the moms who have really enjoyed the summer and now the fall schedule of running around can feel overwhelming. When are they going to find time for themselves while driving everyone to practice and school each week?
No matter where you fall into this spectrum, or maybe you don’t have kids at all, the mark of the seasons changing is a big one for most people. The weather will start to be less predictable, and you know the holidays are here before you know it. Labor Day marks the end of summer and it’s a perfect time to get on your fall schedule, adapt your daily habits to new weather patterns, new schedules, and find a new balance where you are still able to work on a healthy lifestyle, too.
